STRIKE UP THE
BAND!
The NEW Hope
Orchestra is starting to take-shape, but there's still room for MANY more
members! ANYONE, of ANY age (5th grade and up), who plays ANY instrument at ANY
skill level is welcome and encouraged to join. Once formed, the orchestra will
play for Sunday services a few times each year and rehearse as needed, making
this an experience that is fun without taking up much time.
Worried that it's
been "too long" since you've played or that you're "not very good" or "just
starting"?... Well don't! Most of the music will be written specifically for
the the group which means it can be catered to ANY ability level. If you only
want to play two notes, then two notes it is!
Anyone interested
should contact Michael Richardson (878-2385 or ONUalumni01@aol.com) by Sunday,
January 17. Our first planning meeting and rehearsal is tentatively being set
for sometime in the beginning of February. See you then!

Wednesday Night Worship
Join in the spirit every third Wednesday (THIS WEDNESDAY January 20th is the next one) of the month as we eat together and then worship through music and prayer. Potluck starts at 6 pm. Please bring a main dish and a side or desert to share. Worship starts at 7 pm with Unchained leading the evening's service. The WEW monthly events are a great way to get to know the people who you attend church with each Sunday - we have more time to talk over dinner, share what is going on in our lives and then worship in a casual atmosphere. Come and be a part of the community at Hope!

Newsletter
Report-Mission Team
2010 will
bring about many changes for the mission team and our church. The mission team
met on Wed. Oct. 28, 2009 and decided to change our approach to supporting
missions by narrowing the number of projects we try to support, but having a
greater impact on those that we do support.
We would also like to give the people of Hope more opportunities for
hands-on involvement in missions in
addition to their financial support.
The team
agreed to support the West Ohio Conference Mexican Partnership with the
Oriental Methodist Conference. This partnership includes supporting the Nuevo
Progresso Clinic, Casa de Misericordia Orphanage, Templo Aleluya
Methodist Church
, and Hosting Delegations from Mexico.
There will be a work team going to Mexico in 2010 from the Maumee
Watershed District to assist in building projects. At this time we do not have
the date. Also we will support Jo Powers' Medical Mission team in October.
The team
will continue to support the following:
UMCOR in March, the AW Food Pantry, Friendly
Center, the Red Bird Missionary
Conference-Henderson Settlement, The United Methodist Children's Home, and the
United Methodist Student Organization at Bowling Green University.
At this time
The United Methodist Children's Home can be supported by giving $5.00 on the 5th
Sunday. The United Methodist Student
Organization at BG continues to be in need of board members and to also provide
meals at their gatherings.
If anyone is
interested in mission trips, the Maumee Watershed District sponsors work teams
to Henderson Settlement. Dates will follow as soon as we have them.
Bowling
Green First UMC will sponsor a work team in March to the Hurricane Katrina area. Please see Louise McVicker if you are
interested. There will be an informational meeting on January 31st
at 2PM at BG 1st.
Hope will be
assisting the Migrant Rest Center-PathStone near Liberty Center
on April, 24th in helping the center get ready for the farm workers.
There are
many opportunities for Hope to participate in mission work. Please see one of
our mission team members for any information.
Next mission
meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 8 PM.

Mission Trip Information
Rev. Tom Moyer of First United Methodist of Bowling Green will be leading
the 5th annual trip to the Louisiana
area to help with hurricane relief from the devastation left by Katrina and
Rita. Please give prayerful
consideration to joining many other United Methodists and several Hope
volunteers on March 6-14. Please see
Louise McVicker or attend an informational meeting at First on January 31 at

Please do not use the sidewalks along the Christian Life
Center, both East and
West, during this Winter season. There
are no ice guards on the roof and the ice slides down and we don't want anyone
getting hurt. We hope to have signs up
shortly.

Youth
Ministries Soup and Salad
Luncheon Fund Raiser
Coming up at the
end of February, there is an opportunity for anyone who would love to help
support our youth in a special way. The Youth Ministries Team and their
friends are hosting a luncheon after the 2nd service on February 21st that
will not only include a wonderful Hope lunch, but also the opportunity to take
part in a silent auction and hopefully hear some of our youth who like to
perform for an audience. The proceeds from this afternoon event will be
directed toward spring and summer activities such as 30 hour famine and migrant
center work day, Junior high and Middle School camp and the youth mission trip.
What
are some of the ways that you can be involved?
·
Come
eat lunch and make a free will donation
·
Hang
out and listen to our kids show off their talents and encourage them in the use
of their gifts
·
Donate
some items (i.e. a gift basket, a week at your vacation home, a baked good per
month, etc) for the silent auction
·
Bid
in the silent auction!
·
Help
cook or serve that day along side our youth
·
Help
set up or take down along side our youth
If you have a
donation item or would like to help in the kitchen or set up crew, please
contact Bill Bales at 419-460-4781 or by email at bill@aboutgolf.com
Thank you Hope
Church for your continued support of your youth! We look forward to
seeing on 2/21/10.
