From Our Artistic Director

Happy New Year! I hope that all of you had a wonderful holiday season and are ready for new adventures with Pendulum this year. I know we are!

After a very busy fall of behind the scenes work, we're poised to start 2012 off with a bang. This month we begin a new term of classes, travel to the Midwest for a special event and perform High Art in Salem. Here's hoping we see you at one of our many events soon!

Suzanne Kenney
Artistic Director

P.S. Mark your calendars for Up, Up & Away! We will be presenting a pair of performances at our home base of French American International School on April 20 and 21. This is a great opportunity for our Portland fans to see us live.

January is finally here which means we can soon show off all of the hard work we've been doing to prepare for our production of High Art in Salem. We're performing the full-length show at The Historic Elsinore Theatre on Saturday, January 21. You can purchase tickets through the theater's website.

This production is particularly special to us because we will be reunited with two of the show's original creative collaborators: Sasha Lazard and Dave Eggar (along with his band Deoro). Sasha and Deoro will perform several songs new to High Art, which definitely makes this not to be missed!

We said this last term, but our Winter Term of classes is the biggest student group we've ever had! Beginning on January 28, we will welcome continuing students back to the program, along with a number of new ones, including two new apprentices. And be sure to save the date for our annual Community Day on Sunday, April 15.

The Winter Term is full, which means that the next time to take classes with Pendulum will be during our famed two-week Summer Intensive which runs June 24-July 7. In addition to our resident coaching staff, Martin Frenette (Berlin), Nicky Pearson (Bristol) and Pendulum's own Tsengee Byambadorj will be on hand to teach. It's not too soon to sign up!

January is marked by a lot of traveling around the US. Our high-spirited performance at the Lucky Eagle Casino in Rochester, WA on New Year's Eve set the pace!

On the 13th, we will perform at the Fox Theatre for Price Waterhouse Coopers, who is hosting  "Cirque du Salon de l'Auto", a gala in celebration of the Detroit Auto Show.

Then we wing back to Portland for High Art in Salem before heading to Tampa for The Special Event conference which runs January 24-27. We're nominated for a Gala Award at the conference, so cross your fingers for us!

Pendulum is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to strengthen the arts community by collaborating with diverse artists from around the globe, to expose the public to a unique form of moving art through live performance, and to enrich the community by inspiring and educating youth.
