From Our Artistic Director July marks the beginning of Pendulum's new season. There is much to look forward to: taking High Art on the road, new opportunities for the talented students in our education program, wonderful visiting artists, and event appearances in other parts of the country. This season we're also welcoming some new staff members. We're delighted to have Thai aerialist and coach Supatchaya "Goy" Suvan join us as a coach and performer. Goy is an accomplished artist from Thailand who has been traveling the world performing and teaching including residencies in India, Indonesia, Japan, Australia and the United States. Some of you may remember her when she came to visit Pendulum in 2010. On the administrative side, welcome to Beth Levy, a seasoned arts administrator who will be taking on day-to-day administrative duties for all of our programs. And last but not least, congratulations to Madeleine Knox, Josie Oleson, and Nikkin Unwin who will graduate in August after completing the 2-year apprentice program. They will join the company this fall and continue to coach next year's students. Read on to find out when we'll be appearing near you, our upcoming fall classes and event appearances. High Art on the Road. Pendulum has been working hard the last few months to restage High Art for 3 upcoming shows outside of Portland, OR. Our first stop is August 25-27 at the Doudna Fine Arts Center in Charleston, IL. This is a great opportunity for our fans in the midwest to see our latest work. Have friends and family in the area? Please let them know about the show! We have two upcoming shows closer to home this season, so save the date! October 22 - Ross Ragland Theater, Klamath Falls, OR January 21 -Elsinore Theatre, Salem, OR As always, you can find newly booked shows on our upcoming performances page. |
Suzanne Kenney, Luis Torres and MoNika Ell traveled to Santa Fe in June to join long-time collaborator Sasha Lazard for a concert to benefit the New Mexico Heart Gallery. The performance left the audience wanting more and the artists looking forward to their next opportunity to perform for them at the beautiful Lensic Performing Arts Center. |

The wonderful 2011 summer intensive crew!
|
We are half way through our summer intensive with guest artists Nicole Pearson and Jamie Frith. We're delighted to have so many returning students and to see new faces getting an in-depth understanding of what contemporary circus arts are all about. There will be an informal sharing of work created during the camp on Saturday, July 9 at FAIS. The public is welcome to attend.
