GIVE THE TURKEY A BREAK
"This is so easy and so good" will be what you're thinking after your prime rib Christmas dinner. That turkey is just too labor intensive. Add twice baked sweet potatos for a festive touch, have your guests bring rolls, a salad and your favorite traditional dessert, and WOW life is good. |
THE BEAUTY OF FALL
Fall is always a busy time on the ranch with shipping 11 semi loads of calves (the ones you chased around all summer) to their new home in Kansas. The mama cows miss them for about two days and then are off grazing, enjoying life until their next baby in the spring. The hay is cut and piled in stacks for winter feeding. The lodge and cabins have had a good cleaning, pipes are drained, and are wondering where in the heck all the fun guests have gone. The hunters have bagged their elk and deer and gone home. Life is settling in for winter. |
HELLO EVERYONE FROM TANYA
This is just a little reminder for those of you coming to visit us this summer at Bonanza Creek. Horseback riding, as I am sure most of you know, is quite physical, and we do alot of it in this big country. It is important to start getting in shape NOW! We want you to have an amazing experience and not only remember having a sore bum. The best way to get in shape for horseback riding is, of course, to get out there and ride! For you beginners, it is a good idea to get some lessons under your belt not only for the physical aspect, but to gain some confidence as well. Lessons are available on Mondays at the ranch and please feel free to take advantage of those. See you this summer! Happy Holidays!

Keys to good riding
Balance is such a key element to good riding, both Western and English and what I call Cowboy style. It puts you in sync with your horse and adds to the comfort of both of you. To achieve this there should be a straight vertical line from the rider's ear, to the shoulder, to the point of the hip, to the back of the heel. You have achieved this if you can sit, stand, and sit again without support of the hands. Sit deep, balance, and get a feel for your horse before you ever take a step.
Another key to good riding is not over doing it.
Remember: when you're on vacation at Bonanza Creek you can always schedule a message.

GIVE THE GIFT OF COUNTRY
If the eonomy has put a damper on Santa and you are cutting back on presents but want to give that perfect gift of peace and quiet, book now at Bonanza Creek. We will send you a western ornament to surprise your loved one with this thoughtful gift. All that glitzy stuff doesn't buy happiness --- memories do.
There will be no price increase from us this year. June and July are filling up, so please don't wait too long.
