The race and ethnicity distribution of adopted children is dependent on the type of adoption, according to research generated by Elizabeth Ela, former NCFMR project assistant and BGSU alumna. Ela's research shows that internationally adopted children are far more likely to be Asian than other adopted children, and foster care adoptions most often involve Black or White children, while privately adopted children are White.
