CLIMBING TOWARDS A CURE
newsRyan's Dad, David Schultz, will climb one of the nation's largest mountains this summer in hopes to find a cure for DMD.  He needs to raise $14, 410 (equivalent to the mountain's total elevation in feet).  All donations will directly fund a promising adult stem-cell research project through Cure Duchenne, a non-profit organization to benefit DMD.  This project is led by Dr. Guilio Cossu, director of Stem Cell Research Institute in Milan.

For more information on the climb or to donate, please visit our website at www.ryansquest.org/

ANNOUNCEMENTS...

Ryan's Quest is proud to announce DR. CARLO RAGO as our very own scientific advisor.
Dr. Rago received his BS in Biology from Rider University where he honed his passion for research while working in the immunology lab of Dr. James Riggs.  As a graduate student in the Cellular and Molecular Medicine program at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, his work focused on cancer genetics and therapeutics in the laboratory of Dr. Bert Vogelstein.  He is currently a post-doctoral fellow in the Vogelstein lab. Many of Dr. Rago's experiences in cancer research share extensive overlap with work in the field of DMD, including small molecule drug screens, use of AAV, and development of biologic and antisense therapeutics.

We are very excited to have Dr. Rago on-board and feel confident that his medical & scientific expertise will help place your hard-earned charitable dollars into the projects that have the greatest promise of finding a treatment or cure for DMD. Dr. Rago has not wasted any time, he just recently returned from several meetings focused on the most current and promising research projects for DMD. He is graciously donating his time, advice, and expertise to Ryan's Quest at no charge.

RYAN'S QUEST GOLF OUTING
This first annual golf outing for Ryan's Quest was more than just a day of fun on the greens; it was also a day that raised some much needed "green" for DMD research. Participants had the opportunity to play in some fun contests, relaxed and played a round of golf, and then ended their day with a delicious dinner, cocktails and door prizes.  We would like to thank Mercer Oaks golf course for their great service in hosting the outing and all of the participants, sponsors, & volunteers who were instrumental in the day's success. In addition, a special thanks must be made to Ryan's grandfather, Pasquale Locane for organizing this event along with Ryan's uncles Dave Marchiselli & Jay Meier, and family friends Vincent Colletti, Nick Gregorio, & Rob Gray.
