STATEWIDE INTERNSHIP PILOT FOR NONPROFITS
AUSTIN, Texas - August 23, 2010 - Over 30 Central Texas nonprofits will be participating in Texas Association of Nonprofit Organization's (TANO) pilot program aimed at getting every nonprofit in the state an intern.   This program comes at a critical time for both college students, who are increasingly required to have an internship to graduate, and nonprofits, whose budgets have been cut or are being threatened by new legislation.

"Nonprofits, more than any other enterprise type, have been impacted by the economy and unable to hire and grow at the same rates as the private sector" says Mary Beth Harrington, Director of Community Outreach for TANO.  "Organizations can benefit from interns all year with the right access, training, and support.  TANO is providing that training and support in this pilot program and getting access to all students in Central Texas and beyond through campus2careers."

campus2careers is a new source for new talent.  The site matches students and recent grads with entry level opportunities and internships, like those available in the TANO pilot.  "We hope students become indispensable to the organization during their internship so that they graduate into a job.  This is expected in corporate America and what we are striving for in this program," says Jay Whitchurch, co-founder and CEO of campus2careers.
