Craigies Farm Shop and Cafe Newsletter

Newsletter February 2010
Greetings!

Christmas and New Year is now a distant memory, and spring is just around the corner!  I love this time of year, the days are starting to get longer, the first of the snowdrops are bursting into life how much better does it get??

The last month has been a busy old one, a few trips away then the long hours catching up.  Last week I was at Benmore with the P7's from Kirkliston, what a great week we had, so much fun, who needs Florida......?   The week before we were down at the National Farm Retail Conference just outside Birmingham.  It was a great networking event (!) and we picked up loads of new ideas......just got to put them into action now!

We are currently busy getting old leaves tidied up in the covered blocks of strawberries, removing the old leaves helps keep disease levels down.  We will be covering the plants with fleece soon and shutting the tunnel doors at night, this will help keep the heat in the tunnels and hopefully give us strawberries in the second half of May.

We are also currently recruiting a Fruit and Vegetable Manager to oversee our fruit growing, drive the development of our veggie growing project and develop our PYO.....we really want to be the best!!
