Coupon Clipping w/ a Twist

... My son had started a conversation with the elderly lady behind us while he was sorting the coupons we intended to use this trip.  He excitedly explained his "new job" and how he got paid.  She was very attentive and kept telling him how very impressed she was.  Several people around us overheard, stared at our carts and began to guess how much our total bill was going to be.  Then the cashier began to ring up the coupons we had.  Suddenly my son excused himself from the conversation and began watching the cashier intently to make sure she got all the coupons he had laid out.  By this time we had quite a crowd around us, 6-7 customers, several cashiers and bagboys all wanted to see how much "the little guy was going to get".  There were even a couple of bets going on!  Then the total came out ...

Odd Fact:

Fortunately, Mark Twain didn't graduate from elementary school.  If he had, he may have learned as our children are learning, how NOT to use their imaginations!

Plumbing Maintenance Checklist
Prevention is Key to Proper Plumbing  Checklist Man

As a homeowner, keeping up with home maintenance can sometimes feel like a full-time job. There are many things that need to be done to a home in order to keep it running smoothly. Plumbing is just one of the many aspects of your home that you have to keep up throughout the year.

Below you will find a helpful checklist that will help you to look for plumbing problems as well as potential plumbing problems that should be addressed before they become a real issue. Going line-by-line on the checklist will help you with preventative care and maintenance of your home's plumbing.
When thinking about your plumbing system, you need to first realize the number of appliances and pipes that are included in the system. This doesn't only cover the plumbing system that operates toilets, sinks, showers, and bathtubs in your home, it also covers laundry facilities in your home for your washer, utility sinks, and drains that may be installed.

Double Take to Go Green
What is a Dual Flush Toilet? Three Meat Casserole

Dual flush toilets are exactly what they claim to be: toilets that give you the option to choose from two different flushes. Why? Because, to put it plainly, it doesn't take as much water to send number one packing as it does to get rid of number two. By purchasing a toilet with both a low and high volume flush, you'll cut the water your toilet uses by more than half, not only saving you a bundle of money over the course of the toilet's lifetime, but doing some good from an environmental standpoint as well.
Georgia On A Tankfull
Day Trips and Weekend Getaway Review Three Meat Casserole

In our next issue we will be debuting our "Georgia on a Tank-full" series.  Weekend getaways and day trips with the family don't have to be expensive.  Our goal with these articles will be to encourage everyone to "get out there" and see our beautiful state.  .  It is time to get back to basics and spending time with family and friends is an important basic most of us have gotten away from these past few years.  As a large family of 6, we plan to show by example the many awesome destinations and opportunities for quality time that are close by and don't cost a fortune to take advantage of.

We encourage any suggestions you may have for our first trips! Click here  to e-mail us you're your suggestions!
Recipe of the Month
Three Meat Casserole Three Meat Casserole

Another family favorite the kids go crazy for is our three meat casserole.  Again a dish you can make ahead, double and even freeze half for later.

 INGREDIENTS

3 Large cans (8 oz) Bushes® baked beans (I use 3 different kinds for added flavor - onion, maple brown sugar, and home-style make an excellent combination)

1 package of bacon (cut into pieces approx 1" long)
1 small onion (diced)
1/2 cup of brown sugar
