Voiceover Marketing and Business Plans for 2011 |

Dear VO Talent;
Hope the microphone is warm and the familiar smell of metal and circuitry is blending nicely with best reads and takes.
Summer is a time when the market is either readying or readied for 4th quarter. Online and traditional media plans budgeted and spent, and production plans gearing up for September's 4th quarter "last minute deliverables" if those productions haven't been accounted for, spent and placed by the 3rd term.
This means that either the 4th quarter sails along with production, and we're all ready for the last hurrah of business production, or it gets quiet as it's all placed and done; and the market starts thinking about 1st quarter media for 2011...
and we all know that the 1st quarter is generally quiet as economies lead to April 15th - Tax time.
The best time to prep your career track, your business and marketing plans, and new demo production is also in this hammock time of the 4th quarter. While we always thought it a great time to do demos in first quarter, as it's generally the quietest or slowest time of year for media and marketing - prepping in the fourth quarter allows two things:
Adjusting the demos to reflect the editorial content and needs of your career marketing path for the next year's marketing plan - and - tax write off for THIS year.
Ask any accountant. The reason all companies spend money in 4th quarter - media- marketing- advertising expenses are all a tax write for businesses to reduce their tax liabilities. That includes the self employed, the voiceover business LLC or sub-chapter S as well.
We're proposing a different calendar then for your consideration, to think about your marketing plans for next year 2011, and snapping your demos into action by new editorial focus and content.
