In their own words...

I, James Eason, can recommend Mr. Lyons. He has done a very
good job with all the work he has done for me.
He has continuously focused and
listened to my ever changing condition. I give him an A+. I thank him very much
for taking so much time with me.

No Longer Sick and Tired!

For nearly 15 years, Anthony Zukowski let his amputation get
the better of him. Now, he is a five-time Extremity Games medal winner. In 1987, Anthony Zukowski was 21 years old, working his way through college
at a steel service center in Grand Rapids, Mich. On Oct. 8, he happened to be in
"the wrong place at the wrong time" near the new $1.5 million steel slitter
machine, and suffered a degloving injury and 76 fractures in his left arm.
His injuries led to a 4-inch transradial amputation, as well as a skin graft
covering a square-foot from his mid-bicep to the end of his residual limb.
"It definitely changed my life," Zukowski said.

Lyons P&O Helps
Waccamaw Rehabilitation
Center Earns CARF Accreditation
|
The Waccamaw Rehabilitation Center (WRC) at Waccamaw Community
Hospital has been
accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities
(CARF) for their inpatient adult, amputation, and stroke specialty programs.
One of the many things that WRC had to do to reach this
accreditation goal was to have its staff receive ongoing continuing education
in prosthetics and orthotics. WRC invited Alexander Lyons, CPO with Lyons
Prosthetics & Orthotics to facilitate and teach these mandatory courses. Some of the topics presented were prosthetic basics,
wound care protocols for amputations, closed chain gait concepts with muscle
stretch flex responses, and microprocessor technology for both artificial limbs
and braces.
WRC demonstrated its commitment to internationally-recognized
standards for rehabilitation facilities with outstanding services and
personnel. WRC is now one of six
CARF-accredited facilities in South
Carolina, one of three CARF-accredited stroke and
amputee specialties. The accreditation
will extend through February 2012. Read more
