Medical Forum for understanding
Amputation Healing |
 Alexander
Lyons, CPO, President of Lyons Prosthetics and Orthotics (P&O), Inc. organized
and presented as a guest speaker at Waccamaw Community Hospital for an
educational in-service (forum) that addressed wound care management
specifically focusing on lower extremity amputations. Over 40 top health care professionals met
Tuesday, February 24th to discuss wound care protocols. The primary presenters were
Dr. Paul Sasser, MD, Pam Mitchell, RN, and Alexander Lyons, CPO.
 Some of the topics discussed
were common types of wounds, various causes of wounds, and successful
treatments of wounds. New cost effective treatments and wound dressings were
also presented by ConvaTec. Dr. Sasser discussed vascular protocols for pre-amputations
and post-amputations.
"One of the biggest benefits of
having an in-service as a forum (assembly for open
discussion) is that it allows various health care professionals to share
openly their experiences about a specific topic within the realm of their
practices," said Alexander Lyons. "The
forum is a place to share ideas, discuss relevant issues that affect patients,
and establishespartnerships in a
cooperative effort to provide the highest quality service to patients."

Faith Walk Ministries
|
Founded by Carol Cruise. Her
vision is to walk around the perimeter of the United States and pray for our
country. The mission...to claim this
country for God and God's purpose and to share His love with all people.
The walk began on January 1, 2002, at 3:00 p.m. when the
first steps north were taken out of South Beach Miami, Florida. Cruise walked 1451 miles during 2002, stopping for the
year in Hopewell, New Jersey. She
resumed the perimeter walk on April 8, 2003, stepping off from the exact
location, which cross # 1451 was placed.
Check out the Mapped Progress page.
Carol Cruise lost her right leg due to an injury in
December of 1992. She plans to walk the entire 10,000+ miles around the
United States as she prays for our country and continues to encourage
"differently abled" people.
During an
average month, Carol walks about 200 miles.
The walk should take several years to complete.
Cruise will schedule speaking and preaching engagements around
the United States as the walk progresses.
