The Dangerous Prince, pt. 3
Chip Ingram writes in his book, The Invisible War, "The victory is already accomplished; absolutely nothing is at stake in terms of the outcome of Satan's rebellion against God. What continues to be at stake however, is the lives of those who are still fighting. The enemy knows the war is already officially over, but he wants to wreak as much havoc as possible while he still can. Demonic spirits are still intent on destroying the people of God, and their weapons are as real as they always have been. So there are casualties. Though the victory is won, it has not been completely enforced."So what are we to do? A soldier does not go into battle unprotected and expect to survive. Nor should we. One of the greatest reminders of what our spiritual mind-set should be is Paul's words from the book of Ephesians. Understand, this is a symbolic representation of where we need to be spiritually in order to resist/withstand/battle the assaults of the enemy. But when you apply this practically to your life, your will realize victory. When you read through this, imagine for yourself what it looks like in your real world to suit yourself up this way. "Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." (This is the invisible war. When you find yourself at odds with another individual, realize the likely hood is that your disagreement is not with them as much as with something pitting the two of you against each other.) "Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints." (Ephesians 6:10-18)Greg Tutwiler, CCLC, BCPC
