What Would Happen?
During the tempting of Jesus in the desert, there are three separate temptations recorded by Matthew ( 4:1 - 11). In the three responses Jesus gave Satan, He said:
1) " ... live ... on ever word that comes from the mouth of God." (4) 2) "Do not put the Lord your God to the test." (7) 3) "Worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only." (10) And at the beginning of Verse 10 He says, "Away from me Satan!"
How might our life be different if we operated our lives on just these principals? Is it even still possible to live like this today in this world we've created? I realize Jesus said much more than this during His ministry, and that there are more aspects to life that aren't covered here. But a quick survey of what I know about God, and applying these to that, it seems like much of what He's asked us to be is covered here. One of my versions of the Bible is over 1,800 pages long. That's a lot to digest. Yet, what would happen if you and I spent the next 30 days just focused on what these verses mean for us? Would it change us? Would it influence the others around us? Would it change the world we live in? Jesus said seek the Kingdom of God first; in essence, do the most important thing first, and everything else will work itself out. There's a lot if Kingdom seeking in those verses. And there's a lot of Kingdom living left untapped.
