My new book should be out in a couple weeks. It's a collection of stories written over the past few years, compiled together as part of my on-going journey with God. Over the next few weeks the Daily Life Journey will feature excerpts from those stories.

The Right People

~This was a line from a prayer request I received recently; "Pray that the right people are placed in his path." For some reason this stuck with me long after I had moved on from the message. We often ask others for prayer, either for ourselves, or loved ones around us. But I wonder, how often do we ask God to send the "right people"? That request has the potential to set up a whole different solution to the concern at hand.

I think in many cases we pray as if we know what the answer already is. We go to God and suggest that He do such and such. We seem to think we already know what the other person needs. Do you ever do that? Think about the last time you prayed for someone. I'm not implying that we can't discern into someone's life what their needs are, but speaking from experience, I think the tendency at times is, I know what will make this situation better, so that's what I ask for. However, when we make a request of Father like the one above, we relinquish our agenda totally, and invite all of God's divine intervention. In essence we are saying, "I don't know what they need God, you do. Send the right person into their life that will have the best opportunity to see your will be done." Out of the good nature within our hearts, I know that's what we really want anyway.~

Consider that the next time you intercede on someone else's behalf.
