All By Myself

Daily Life Quote:
"The most terrible poverty is loneliness, and the feeling of being unloved." Mother Teresa

Daily Life Verse:
"The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you or forsake you. Do not be afraid. Do not be discouraged."
(Deuteronomy 31:8)

Daily Life Thought:
The Beatles sang, "All the lonely people, where do they all come from?" Three Dog Night sang, "one is the loneliest number." Eric Carmen sang "all by myself." And I bet you've got all three tunes in your head by now. We know the tunes, but do we also know the experience? I could go on and on. The search list was nearly endless. Paul Tillich wrote, "Language has created the word loneliness to express the pain of being alone." Have you ever felt alone? Truly alone? So alone that there seemed no way out of a circumstance, and no one to help you walk through it? Some analysts predict we are headed for a loneliness crisis. Our young generation lives in a world of isolation even within their own pier groups. Modern technology has helped them connect all over the world, and check out at the same time. They won't "talk" anymore. The new forms of communication; IMs, Texting, and eMail are about as emotionless as you can get. The "feeling" part of relationships is being lost. There's more people living on earth today than ever, and more people alone than ever. We need Jesus like never before. Not the Jesus that is presented by so many religious facsimiles today; but the resurrected, ascended, living, loving Son of God the Father. The only cure for loneliness; the loneliness that most of us won't talk about; is an authentic relationship with Jesus. If you don't have that, you need to find it. And if you do, you need to share it. The Kingdom is counting on it.

Daily Life Discovery:
Have you ever experienced debilitating loneliness? How did you overcome it? Do you know someone now whose loneliness needs Jesus? Do you?
