Humble Wisdom

Daily Life Quote:
"Once you see yourself for who you really are, you will know how much you need to change. Humility begins with self-awareness that must be followed with selflessness." Erwin McManus

Daily Life Verse:
"When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom." (Proverbs 11:2)

Daily Life Thought:
The toughest thing to do is look at yourself. Humanity struggles so hard to take responsibility for anything we've done wrong. It's always someone else's fault. To consider ourselves as the source of the breakdown would mean something's amiss within us. We don't like that. Remember Adam's response to God when questioned about the apple? He said, "the woman you put here with me - she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it." (Genesis 3:12) Imagine how things might have been different had Adam owned up to his roll in their unfortunate disobedience. Wisdom begins with humility. And it gives you the advantage in dealing with your adversary. Pride is an ugly thing. So much so, it got Satan kicked out of Heaven. Look around at the volitive nature of the corporate and political arenas these days. It's all fueled by pride and the quest for power. And consider the disgrace that has fallen on many from those environments. Humble wisdom could go a long way in altering the impending outcome for anyone caught up in the selfish need to always be right, and always be in charge.

Daily Life Discovery:
Do you ever catch yourself attempting to shift blame away from yourself when you know you're responsible? How might personal humility increase your wisdom in those situations?
