A new season has arrived! It's the dawn of new beginnings. If last year was rough, then this year can be better. The old has passed. Every encounter with a new day, or a new season, or a new year, is an opportunity to reap new fruit. What will your year be like? God knows. As this new chapter begins, seek His direction and follow His plan.

The Nature Of Prayer
Daily Life Quote: "The function of prayer is not to influence God, but rather to change the nature of the one who prays." Soren Kierkegaard
Daily Life Verse: "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." (Philippians 3:6)
Daily Life Thought: Paul writes to the Philippians, " ... in everything, by prayer ..." Do you take everything to God in prayer? Imagine for a moment if you did. How would your life be different if you had that kind of prayer life? I know for me, if that were the way I prayed, my nature would be significantly changed. God already knows what we need, even before we ask. He doesn't need us to remind Him what's going on in our lives. A friend of mine suggests we generally treat God like a "supply sergeant." Isn't that the typical prayer life of most? "God fix this, make this happen, make them do that," etc. What person is really changed by that kind of prayer? We just end up mad at God when he doesn't come through for us. And our nature doesn't change at all. But Paul writes, "do not be anxious about anything." Jesus tells us that it's peace He brings to us. Maybe that's a great place to start. Seeking peace destroys anxiety, and clears the way for our prayers to be dripping with thanksgiving. There's no way we cannot be changed by that kind of approach to prayer.
Daily Life Question:
Do you feel changed by your prayers to God, or are you more often asking God to change someone or something?
