Tech Spot
Kevin
"Flash"Klump
Welcome to Tech spot.
There are two purposes for this column; one is to help clarify some of today's
technological terms, such as Wi-Fi and Blogging. The other purpose is to give
advice on what to look for when buying some of the new fangled gadgets.
Currently, I am in the process of changing some things
with the Tech Spot articles, and could use your help. If you have any ideas, comments, and/ or
questions. Contact me at kklump@tfc.edu
Here are a couple ideas that I have come up with so
far.
Coming soon to Tech spot:
1.
Audio and/ or Video podcasts of Tech spot
articles
2.
Ask "Flash": in future articles I will be answering your
questions.

"The most important thing a father can do for his children is to
love their mother."
No one knows that better than Donald Miller (author
of Blue Like Jazz) who grew up in a fatherless home. As the featured
guest on FamilyLife's Father's Day Special, Donald and Dennis Rainey highlight
the impact dads have on their children. And as a perfect punctuation to this
special, one Rainey daughter pays tribute to her father on her wedding day.
It's a must hear for WRAF Radio listeners!

A New Earth - An Old
Deception
Oprah continues to reach out with a
"gospel of self" that is much different than the Gospel of Jesus Christ. With
best-selling author Eckhart Tolle, she is promoting New Age teachings that need
to be exposed. Download a special HAVEN Today with Charles Morris and
Richard Abanes as they discuss this ancient deception.

Family Vacation Tips
Family Vacation. Those are two words that strike fear into the hearts of
many parents (and kids - especially if they are teenagers!) Some parents can
get so caught up in the details of a summer family vacation that they don't have
any fun. Other parents find the stresses involved in a vacation are so great,
that by the time they get home, they need to go back to work in order to get
some rest. Yet, family vacations don't have to be feared. They can be a
tremendous source of bonding, relaxation and fun while building a future filled
with great memories. The following tips from Jim Burns and the Homeword staff
can help you turn you turn your next family vacation into a great
experience.

before there was a drop in the ocean / Even before there was a star in the sky /
Even before the world was put in motion / You were on Your throne / You were on
Your throne You

Every knee will bow / And every tongue proclaim / That Jesus reigns

Post-rapture e-Mail?
A new "after the
Rapture" e-mail service has been launched that allows the customer to edit all
documents and addresses at any time. The You've Been Left Behind website is run and programmed by
Christians and employs a "dead man's switch" to automatically send e-mails after
the Rapture of the Church has taken place.

Picking up Parents'
Passions
And you, fathers, do
not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and
admonition of the Lord. Ephesians 6:4
Recommended
Reading Deuteronomy
6:6-9
The
world's number one ranked professional golfer, Tiger Woods, started playing golf
when he was two years old because his father immersed him in the sport. Peyton
Manning and Eli Manning, both professional football quarterbacks, learned their
love for the game from their father, a standout NFL quarterback
himself.
Many children develop a
passion for their parents' passions, whether for good or ill. And the same is
true when it comes to developing a worldview that encompasses the spiritual
needs of the world. Too many children's world stops at the parking lot of their
local church often because that's the border of their parents' world.
But there
are many ways to expand a child's worldview:
1. Host foreign exchange students in
your home.
2. Develop personal relationships with missionaries.
3. Travel to a foreign
country or shop in an ethnically-different area of your hometown.
4. Subscribe to
National Geographic magazine.
5. Read missionary biographies with your
children.
If children are going to
develop a heart for the world Christ came to save, knowledge of that world must
begin at home.
Children are the sum of what parents contribute to their
lives.
Richard Strauss
