Tech Spot
Kevin "Flash" Klump
Welcome to Tech spot. There are two purposes for
this column; one is to help clarify some of today's technological terms, such as Wi-Fi and Blogging.
The other purpose is to give advice on what to look for when buying some of
the new fangled gadgets.
Recently I talked about the upcoming conversion to Digital TV,
and about a coupon you can get that will take $40 off the purchase of a
set top converter box. I spoke with Mike Shelly, host of
Praise in the Morning, and found out that the coupon will be in the
form of a debit card. Once it arrives you will have 90 days to
purchase the converter box.
For Tech spot this is Kevin "Flash" Klump |

The top Christian hits can be heard on 20 The Countdown Magazine on Saturday afternoons at 3 pm on WRAF.

Prince Caspian The Chronicles of Narnia By C.S. Lewis
Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy are suddenly transported from an English
train station to an island in the world of Narnia. Why they've been shifted so
dramatically isn't made clear at first, but they soon learn they're to play an
important role in the battle between a young Prince who is heir to the Narnian throne and his
devious Uncle who has usurped it.
With the help of Trumpkin the Dwarf and many other memorable
characters, the four children rush to the aid of Prince Caspian and learn a
great deal about faith along the way.

And be not conformed to this world; but be ye transformed by the renewing of
your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect,
will of God.
The human brain is the most complex arrangement of matter in the universe and
modern brain research is adding to this wonder.
But medical researchers
are learning that if the part of the brain that controls your left hand, for
example, is damaged beyond repair, other parts of the brain will take over for
the injured part. This doesn't always happen automatically, however. It takes
effort on your part.
If you don't use the hand, the brain won't work very
hard to re-assign its function to another part of the brain. It also works the
other way. Even if the brain isn't damaged, failure to use your left arm will
result in a shrinkage of the brain area that controls it. So pianists, for
example, will have a growth in the area of the brain controlling their skills,
if they practice.
These discoveries fill us with more wonder over the
incredible abilities of the brain. But they also tell us something about
ourselves. We are not, as many think, locked into certain bad habits or sins. We
are learning that the transformation of our minds by God's power is not only
something that happens spiritually - physical changes take place in our brains
as a result of our behavior. Is your mind being transformed by the power of God,
or is it being conformed to the world.
Prayer: Dear heavenly Father, I thank You for the wonderful gifts You
have given me. Transform me by the power of Your Word so that I may be more like
my Savior, Jesus Christ. In His name. Amen. References: How Plastic is the Brain? Science Digest, May 1983. P.

The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association is
offering a Biblical perspective to the new movie blockbuster, Iron Man.
About the movie, author Jeremy Hunt says,
". . . a story like Iron Man can be used to
encourage others (and ourselves) about the possibility of true change. . . the
film makes it very clear that Tony Stark is initially an alcoholic and a
womanizer. While he does demonstrate a desire to switch his life to a better
path, that's no guarantee that those struggles won't return. . . That's an
important lesson for every Christian to remember. Regardless of where you are in
your walk, you need to know that the sins and issues that you struggled with
before deciding to follow Jesus will probably surface again at some point. We
can attain victory over these sins through the power of Christ, but that doesn't
mean it will come without a fight."
