CIRTA launches Plainfield Connector

On Monday, Sept. 24, CIRTA launched the Plainfield Connector, offering weekday connecting service between Indianapolis and the Plainfield warehousing district and Metropolis Mall. Passengers can transfer between IndyGo and the Plainfield Connector at the IndyGo Route 8 stop on Bridgeport Road (northbound) between Washington Street and Perimeter Road. After departing from the IndyGo stop, the Plainfield Connector makes 11 stops in the industrial park and mall area along Airtech Parkway and Whitaker, Reeves and Perry Roads. The loop is made every 30 minutes from 6:00 am to 8:30 am and 2:00 pm to 6:30 pm, with one early morning departure from downtown Indianapolis at 5:15 am.

The fare is $3 per one-way trip, or $1 for passengers with a valid, date-stamped IndyGo pass. The schedule, route map and more information are posted at www.plainfieldconnector.com. This service is funded with a three-year federal Congestion Mitigation Air Quality (CMAQ) grant with support from the Town of Plainfield.

Indy Connect establishes speakers' bureau

Leaders with Indy Connect: Central Indiana's Transportation Initiative have launched a speakers' bureau to deliver information about transit to individuals and organizations throughout the region. The interactive Indy Connect presentation, which lasts 15-20 minutes, gives audiences a clear understanding of the Indy Connect regional transit plan and what's happening to make the plan a reality. Advocates are asking Indiana's elected officials to support a referendum that would allow voters to decide whether they want to use local funds to support transit. To arrange for a speaker, contact Sean White at (317) 910-4558 or request@indyconnect.org.
