News Briefs:
Economic Stimulus and Diversification in HI - Act 221 has suffered a great set back in the Hawaii Legislature conference committees: incentives are gone for non-Hawaii investors to partner locally, and local investors can only use credits up to 80% of taxes owed with no carry forward. Probably most damaging is the continuous assault on the program and changing of the rules in mid-stream. There is still a floor vote on Tuesday. I am gathering information to see if the investor community thinks it is still viable as an incentive program to support innovation. Will have more news and some analysis on this next week.
