Percy's Blog - Summer Reading

If you're looking for some interesting and engaging reading over the summer, I have a few recommendations for you. The first three will be featured as part of our Head of School Book Club (dates to be determined). The selected titles are particularly of interest to me as we will be looking into the ways in which our curriculum and pedagogy encourages creativity, imaginative thinking, and innovative approaches to learning. The first title is by Dr. Yong Zhao, our featured speaker at next year's Gateway School speaker series.

Reminder from the Business Office

Annual and Semi-Annual Tuition Payments Are Due Tomorrow:

If you chose to pay your child's 2012-2013 tuition  on the Annual or Semi-Annual payment plan, your Annual or Semi-Annual tuition payment is due by the close of business (5:00 pm) tomorrow, May 31st The exact amount of your  tuition payment appears on the April 30th  billing statement that was sent to you in the first week of May.

If you chose the Annual-Credit Card tuition payment plan, your credit card information is already on file and we will charge the full tuition to your credit card tomorrow.  Please make sure that there is sufficient credit left on your credit card so that this payment will be sure to go through. If you chose the Annual-Cash or Semi-Annual tuition payment plan, your payment must be made in cash or by check.  No late fees will accrue on this tuition charge as long as your payment arrives in the Main Office (or clears your credit card account) by 5:00 p.m. tomorrow.  We urge parents to be on time with their tuition payments so that they may avoid the late fees and loss of tuition discounts that result from being late with their payments, and so they may avoid placing their children's enrollment (and any financial aid they may have received) in jeopardy. Please contact Rima in the Business Office at x 308 if you have any questions.

2012-2013 Flag Football

Dear 7th and 8th grade students for school year 2012-2013:

Gateway's 7/8 co-ed flag football team will begin practice in late August before the start of the school year.  If you are interested in playing 7/8 flag football, please email Kim Normington at kim.normington@gatewaysc.org and Johaan Ryberg at johaan.ryberg@gatewaysc.org and we will put you on our email list.   Let us know your name and grade level in 2012-2013.

Also, please find someone to play catch with and toss the ball 50+ times every day that you can this summer.  This is the single best thing you can do to prepare for playing flag football at Gateway.   The correct size football is a "Youth" football often used in Pop Warner or youth flag football leagues.  (5/6 players use a "Junior" size football.)

(5/6 football practices will begin after the start of the school year and sign-ups will be held the first week of school.)

Go Sharks!
