New Gate Locking Procedures Starting Monday 5/14
Dear Parents:
Over the past several years we have been taking steps to improve campus security and starting next week we will implement some gate locking procedures. These changes are not in response to any particular incident, but are part of an ongoing focus on campus security, which we know is important to parents based on the recent parent survey.
Beginning Monday morning, May 14th we will be changing our process for locking the side entrances to the school.
The REAR entrance by the Life Lab garden will be open from 7:30 - 8:45 in the morning and again from 2:05 - 3:25 in the afternoon. The FRONT bicycle gate (wooden door) closest to the intersection of Avenue A and Eucalyptus Avenue will be open from 7:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. and again from 2:05 p.m. - 3:25 p.m. Both Front and Rear gates will remain locked at ALL other times to improve campus security for our students and staff. If you arrive outside these times you will need to enter the following code: 1970. We ask that you not share this code with students, but keep this amongst the adult community only.
We will also be sending you this code via text message later today. We are using this opportunity to send you a text message as part of our new emergency notification system.We appreciate your cooperation as we all adjust to these new procedures. Thank you.
