Summer might seem a distant memory or a far-off dream, but Jackson Allen is currently hard at work building another summer program to remember. CAMP GATEWAY registration opens in the middle of March but a new and improved summer website will be up at the end February, complete with a searchable list of classes so you can block out your summer in advance.
In the mean time please "like" CAMP GATEWAY on facebook! You'll find spotlights on new instructors and partnerships, tips on planning a thrill-packed summer and some whimsical reminders of summers gone by.

Re-enrollment and Financial Aid
Financial Aid application deadlines are fast approaching! Online applications are due by February 15th and applicants must mail in their 2011 tax returns by February 24th. See the Financial Aid item at the bottom of this page for detailed information.
Re-enrollment for the 2012-2013 school year: Re-enrollment packets for current students will be mailed to parents this week. The deadline for re-enrolling is March 15th. NEW THIS YEAR: Don't miss the special announcement in your packet regarding your chance to enter a drawing for a 10% discount on your child's 2012-2013 tuition! |

Open House - Tuesday Feb. 7th
Tuesday, February 7th 9-11am. Invite your friends. This is the last Open House before the Admissions Application deadline on 2/28/12. Do you have friends that are unhappy in their current school? Encourage them to attend an Open House and experience the magic of Gateway. RSVP's encouraged but not required.

Save The Date - Sat. Feb. 11th
World Premier of the film "Happy"
Gateway School will show "Happy" a feature-length documentary film during its world premier on Saturday evening February 11th. The 75 minute film leads viewers on a journey across 5 continents in search of keys to happiness, addressing many of the fundamental issues we face today: how do we balance the allure of money, fame and social status with our needs for strong relationships, health and personal fulfillment? Through remarkable human stories and cutting-edge science, "Happy" leads us toward a deeper understanding of why and how we can pursue more fulfilling, healthier and happier lives.
Join others in the Gateway community during this world premier as we watch the film and then have discussion about its key points. We all want to be happy and we want to raise happy children, so lets explore this new film "Happy" together!

Sharks Girls Volleyball has begun!
The practice schedule is below. Please have your daughter come to practice with water, knee pads, athletic shoes and sports attire.
All practices are on Mondays and Wednesdays at the Circle Church gym. The game schedule will be released soon and you can always check the school online calendar for the most recent updates and locations.
5th Grade: 5:15-6:30 with Student Coaches Kate and Alysha and Coach Sara
6th Grade: 3:30-4:30 with Coach Kirsten
7th/8th Grade: 4:15-5:30 with Coach Sara

Spelling Bee Results
Congratulations to Gateway's Spelling Bee winners! Sixth graders Ruby Rorty and Ben Zuniga will be representing our school in the fourth through sixth-grade division at the County Spelling Bee at UCSC; eighth grader Kate Whitley and seventh grader Audrey Bennett will represent us in the seventh through ninth-grade division. Jaime Kvaternik (sixth grade), and Emily Love (eighth grade) came in third place in their school divisions, and have kindly agreed to serve as alternates. Congratulations to our top spellers! |

Financial Aid 2012-13
Financial Aid for the 2012-2013 School Year: Financial Aid application season is now open. On the Tuition and Financial Aid page of our website ( www.gatewaysc.org), you will find information that explains the application process. Instead of using the SSS system to process financial aid applications, as we have for the last several years, we are now using the FAST (Financial Aid for School Tuition) system. We believe this will provide an easier and less time-consuming application process for parents. Our website page has a link to the FAST application system.
In order to apply for aid, you must file an online application through FAST and you must mail to FAST a copy of your complete 2011 tax returns. We recommend that parents start preparing now to get their 2011 taxes done as early as possible during the month of February 2012. The deadline for completing your FAST application is February 15th and the deadline (postmark date) for mailing your tax return to FAST is February 24th. As long as you meet these deadlines, your application will be considered for the first round of financial aid awards (the round in which the bulk of our financial aid budget is awarded). If you are divorced, separated or never married, please be aware that each parent must file a separate FAST application and each parent must submit a copy of his or her complete 2011 tax returns to FAST.
