HOS Book Club - TONIGHT, 7pm

The Parents We Mean to Be: How Well-Intentioned Adults Undermine Children's Moral and Emotional Development, by Richard Wiessbourd is our book for discussion. Please join us in the West Cliff Room, even if you haven't finished reading.

BIKE TO SCHOOL DAY - TOMORROW!

If you can, please use human-powered transportation to come to school on Thursday May 12th. Those that do will receive a free breakfast (7:30-8:30am). Pancakes will be made and served by the Gateway Dad's Group

NEW Water Garden Workdays Saturday May 14th & Sunday May 15th

Come help build our NEW tiled water garden and hand pump project in Life Lab.  Last year's 6th graders made beautiful hand painted tiles with life lab memories that they designed specifically for Gateway School's Life Lab Garden. These tiles will be used to decorate our new water garden system which will treat and re-use water from our outdoor garden kitchen. An ecologically-based water management system using 3 tiered bio-filtration pond boxes will be used to treat the water from the outdoor kitchen sinks. Students will then convey the water through a hand pump to watering cans to water the garden beds.

We will be breaking ground for this project on Saturday May 14th and Sunday May 15th from 9 am to 3 pm each day.

We are hoping to have as many families as possible help with this project. There will be plenty of jobs appropriate for children, such as digging, installing pipe, putting in pond liner, planting, and more, so bring the whole family!

If you want to learn about creating water gardens at your home and can join us for some fun in the sun, please RSVP to Jeremy King Jeremy.King@gatewaysc.org with the day and time you can help as well as any preference you have for types of jobs.

Thank you!

MIDDLE SCHOOL DANCE - Friday 13th 7-10 pm, United Methodist Church
SPRING ART TOUR - NOW!

Make sure to take the "Art Tour".  All students K-5 have artwork on display throughout the hallways and in the lobby. Artwork will remain on display until the last week of school.

Values Presentation & Discovery Cafe
Tuesday 5/17 - 6:30-8:30pm

Join us to learn what we found out about Gateway School through your participation in last spring's Cultural Values Assessment! Percy and Ruth (of Hidden Fire Consulting), who helped design the survey and collect the results, will present their findings from the parent, student, and school-wide surveys and what these results mean for Gateway School going forward. The group will then break into smaller groups - a Discovery Café - to delve into the deeper meaning behind some of the chosen values.

Enjoy a café atmosphere with refreshments, and help us to engage in some open conversations about academic excellence, character development, community involvement, and the possibilities for Gateway School.  For more information and to RSVP, click here .
