For K-5 parents, please join Percy for coffee and pastries bright and early, before work! Water Garden Design Project
As you may recall we have a special project that is being designed specifically for Gateway School's Life Lab Garden. We will be installing a grey water system to treat and re-use water from our outdoor garden kitchen for hand watering in the garden. The goal is to keep our precious resources, like water, on the farm.
We will use an ecologically-based management system with emergent plants in tiered 3-pond biofiltration system to treat the water from the outdoor kitchen sinks. Students will then convey the water through a hand pump to watering cans to water the garden beds.
We will be breaking ground on this project on Saturday May 14th and Sunday May 15th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. We are looking for volunteers to help with all aspects of this undertaking. There will be opportunities for everything from down and dirty manual labor to pouring lemonade. There will also be plenty of jobs appropriate for children so bring the whole family! If you can join us for some fun in the sun please RSVP to Jeremy King Jeremy.King@gatewaysc.org with the day and time you can help as well as any preference you may have for types of jobs.
