Fall Festival is October 30th!  As you all know, this year, Peace & Plenty and Harvest Festival will be combined to create a fun celebration of our community and the welcoming of fall.  There will be games for the children, local growers and restaurants showcasing their wares (think Kelly's homemade ice cream!), and performances by Gateway School students.  Please come and enjoy a wonderful day of fun, family, and fall spirit.  The Fall Festival is from 12:00 - 4:00pm, with student performances beginning at 2:30pm.

We are asking for pumpkin donations - when you and your family go pumpkin shopping, please consider picking up one more for Gateway School!  You can drop them off in the lobby now. Thank you!  If you are interested in being involved with the event, please contact parent coordinators Jeannie Wholey or Shiva Hurvitz.
Book Fair - Thurs. 10/21 and Fri. 10/22 (during K-5 Goal Setting Conferences) in Tess's 5th grade classroom.

The theme this year is "Here's to Our Heroes! - Reading Saves the Day!"   During the book fair - put on by Scholastic books - you can purchase books for your child, or for your teacher''s classroom, specialists, or the Gateway Library - from their wish lists posted at the fair.

The Gateway library program will have a special contest for students before the book fair; winners will receive a $5.00 gift certificate to be used during the book fair.

Come to the Book Fair and support our library!
The Environmental Advisory Panel (EAP) is launching a new green cleaning pilot program to address our environmental and toxic concerns about the cleaning products we are currently using.  A group of Gateway teachers have agreed to receive training for the use of some new safe and effective green cleaning products in their classrooms, and will receive their trial cleaning kits this week.  Please join us with your "Green Ideas" at our next EAP meeting in the Library on the 4th Tuesday of the month!  Learn more at http://www.gatewaysc.org/EAP/index.html

It's fall - that eScrip time of year!

eScrip is a fundraising program where families can sign up and support the school of their choice by simply shopping.  At Safeway, just use your Safeway Club Card. Other merchants, like restaurants, donate to the school when you use your credit or debit cards. Donations are made to Gateway based on the registered cards, so please take 5 minutes at www.escrip.com to renew or register your Safeway, credit, and debit cards.  The Safeway cut off date for registration is October 31 - and is rapidly approaching.

After registering, please complete the raffle form and drop in the eScrip box in the lobby next to the computer. Raffle flyers are in the lobby and were also sent to you in a recent eScrip email from your room parent. The drawing is for a $25 gift card per grade!

New Leaf, Staff of Life, Whole Foods, and Nob Hill use a different method for school donations.  This is being researched and I will have more information soon.

Please contact me directly if you have questions, comments or want to help with this project.

Thank you,
