Last Wednesday, at the Second Harvest Food Drive awards
dinner Gateway
School won an
award for gathering 24 lbs of food per student and being one of the largest
school contributors to the Holiday Food Drive! Congratulations to Gateway 6th graders for their stellar
effort in organizing the Food
Drive for our school. A special thank you goes to 6th
grade teacher Lydia, who has championed this 6th grade community
service project for years, and has dedicated hours of personal and classroom
time to this food drive, and most importantly, inspiring and retaining the
interest of all of the students. Thank
you to all Gateway parents and students for supporting such a meaningful effort
to feed the hungry in Santa Cruz
County.

Fair award winners:

to Asha Failor-Wass, Daisy Hemmen, Amber Carlton, Sean
Miller, and Kate Mendenhall for winning an award at the County Science Fair. The specific awards will be
revealed at the County awards banquet on March 22nd.
- Congratulations
to the following 7th and 8th grade students for
earning "Judges Pick" awards at the Gateway School
Science fair: Andrew Adelman, Kate Mendenhall, Kiana Hamzehi, Ryan
Donovan, Ryan Kahn, Marcus Nelson, Stephanie Reno, Shannon Ganley, Maddie
Bennet, Jianna Mader, Hunter Randolph, Gabriel Mead-Newton, Wilson
Fletcher, and Sean Miller! - We will list 6th graders next
week.
Bake Sale
Fundraiser Results for Haiti
- The Student Council Bake Sale collected $250. This made our
grand total donation given to the Red Cross for Haiti
at $1,800.

Gateway's Board of Directors is conducting our annual survey
of all Gateway families. Your opinions will assist us in directing the school
at a strategic level. The survey was written by parents, and it asks
interesting and important questions.
