Awareness Through Movement®Weekly Classes Fall I Series 9/10 - 10/28Day & Evening Classes Offered Monday - Sunday . . . . . . . . .

"After a few months of regular ATM classes, I am more aware of how I am moving and how different parts of me relate to the whole. For example, in routine tasks at work and at home involving reaching, twisting, bending or lifting, I notice that I am able to avoid strains that are likely to result in pain. I am more aware in general, but not necessarily more self-conscious, which is good. And the class itself is a great tension reducer."

September/October 2012
WELCOME BACK!
Whether you are returning from out of town or perhaps just taking it a little easier while enjoying summer in the city, we, the faculty, hope you had a rejuvenating summer. We are thrilled to be celebrating our 25th year as a collective group of Feldenkrais Practitioners providing quality learning experiences for our students.
We are pleased to welcome our newest faculty member this Fall. Suzanne Toren joins our roster of practitioners and will be teaching the Monday evening class.
Moshe Feldenkrais was unparalleled in his unique knowledge of the plasticity or "changeability" of the human brain. He accomplished this through his curiosity about, and research into, human movement in gravity and its development from infants to the aged. The world is now gaining more insight into human potential through an evolving science that is researching neuro-plasticity. We would like to share with you a short interview with the keynote speaker for this year's National Feldenkrais Conference, Embodying Neuroscience. Dr. Michael Merzenich, world renowned neuroscientist and pioneer in brain plasticity, praises the Feldenkrais Method® for offering intelligent strategies for personal development. And now, as the slower paced summer days are replaced by heightened activity and challenges, it's important for each of us to recognize the need for rest in order to be our most productive. A new study reports that rest is crucial for learning. This is an integral component of the Feldenkrais Method® and Awareness Through Movement® lessons. The practice of Feldenkrais, whether through classes and/or private lessons, is one thing that we can do for ourselves as we strive to be healthy and perform at our best -- in our work and in our lives.
We are looking forward to returning to a year of healthy explorations and unimagined insights.
