"My experience at the Feldenkrais Learning Center has been profound. A sense of exploration and discovery has been renewed. I allow patience to guide while curiosity and playfulness participate. I am taught  time and time again the value of open mindedness and receptivity. This is a delicately invigorating practice. I feel heartier and revitalized."

LETTING GO OF HABITUAL
MOVEMENT AND BEHAVIOUR

When you read this newsletter's article by Feldenkrais practitioner Catherine Mitchell, "Compassion and Balance Inside and Out," you will learn from the example of a young girl how deeply our attitude to a situation influences our success within it. Simply by moving with awareness, it is possible to change how we think - because Feldenkrais affects our brains as well as our bodies. Letting go of a fixed idea of how to move can nurture new neural pathways for all we do.

The upcoming workshops at the Feldenkrais Learning Center offer unique and specific ways for you to create the changes you want and also to allow for unexpected ones. Whether your interest is in breathing easier, relieving pain, playing on rollers to bring greater freedom and flexibility, understanding the crucial role of the use of your eyes, or organizing yourself for healthier running, you can accomplish your goals with ease and pleasure. A Sunday afternoon at the FLC can change your life!

We hope that you will be inspired to join one of our many Awareness Through Movement classes where the richness of personal exploration in a supportive environment under the guidance of a skilled teacher can lead you to better appreciate your potential for healthy, creative living.

FACULTY SIGHTINGS
Here's what some of our faculty have been up to in addition to the classes and workshops they are offering at the Center.

Marcy Lindheimer
Marcy will be co-teaching with Anat Baniel in California for 10 days at the end of February and 10 days at the end of March. Together, they'll teach segment 5 of the ABM Basic Training and the final segment of the Children's Mastery Course. 70 students will graduate from the Mastery Course. Anat's latest book, "Kids Beyond Limits," will be released March 27. This book is a must for anyone with children, but especially those parents who have children with special needs.

Marilyn Bakun
Marilyn can be seen with Tina Fong at the Greenwich House Caring Community Center in Tribeca teaching a Feldenkrais Class for Seniors. The winter and spring classes are focused on improving balance and comfort in walking. Classes are conducted in a unique open environment that gives Center members an opportunity to witness the process and changes made by class participants.

Barbara Forbes
Barbara was recently interviewed for a "Dance Magazine" article on Feldenkrais and Ballet - we'll let you know when it's available.  Barbara continues to teach Feldenkrais and Feldenkrais Improvisation at Sarah Lawrence College, and to develop her "Embodied Life" studies with Russell Delman.

Scott Fraser
Scott presented a seminar - "Feldenkrais and RSI" - for the New York Region Feldenkrais Guild Conference on February 11, teaching his strategies and techniques for treating people with repetitive strain injuries.

The Feldenkrais Learning Center
The FLC helped to sponsor the 16th Annual New York Feldenkrais Conference held on February 11th, 2012. This event brings the community together for continuing education and is committed to supporting rising new professionals as well as veteran practitioners. Scott Fraser presented a seminar, "Feldenkrais and RSI," and joined Marilyn Bakun, Barbara Forbes, Rachel Lidov (treasurer of the regional Guild), Kathy Yates and others in contributing to a very enriching and successful day.
