LOCAL COMEDIAN KEVIN CRAFT "FREAKS OUT"!
kcaldwell

After witnessing all the internet hype and reading the article in the Star Tribune, I had to sit down with at least one of the men behind the madness. See what local  comedian Kevin Craft has to say about why he became a comic, why family is his everything, and why he felt the need to "Freak Out" Ghetto style.

Mrs. MaXX: What's up Kevin! I see you're out here grindin' doin' it real big!

Kevin Craft: Yeah I'm trying to do it big out here.

Mrs. MaXX: My bad Kevin, I'm being rude. Go ahead and introduce yourself. Tell our readers who you are and where you came from.

Kevin: Well my name is Kevin Craft, I'm 23 years old, and born right here in Minnesota.

MM: Born and raised huh? Ok. How's the family? I see your wife out here grindin' for you! I'm sure you have to feel blessed knowing that wifey is your #1 fan. (For those of you who don't know, Kevin's wife Jermika is one of the original members of the MaXXposure team. So she goes hard!)

Kevin: Yeah my girl is my #1 fan.  That's why I had to marry her.  She goes through a lot with me being gone 10-15 days out of a month.  It's hard to find a down ass chick and she puts up with me.  Shout out to my girl. LOVE YOU BABY!

MM: Awww!! *tear* you got me all emotional over here. lol Just playin'.  I wish you both the best. So what made you get into comedy?

Kevin: Well, before comedy I went to college at Southwest State and Dunwoody but it didn't work out.  It was hard for me to focus on something that I didn't like so I realized school just wasn't for me.  On top of that, I had gotten locked up for 6 months for something I didn't do and was looking at 15 years. Because of that, I felt like I was at a dead end with my life. Until one night I had a dream that I was talking to Chris Tucker, and I asked him how he knew he was funny.  He then said to me "You don't know until you try." I figured that was God telling me my calling. Most cats out here rap, I just don't know how to. But I could always make somebody laugh.  That always came natural to me.

MM: It's good to be different.  I mean EVERYONE is a rapper now days.  It's about time someone stepped out of the box and tried something new.  I can respect that to the fullest. Anyway, after doing some research, I noticed that you are a part of a comedy team called "Verbally Vicious"...Who are the other comics involved with you in that?

Kevin: Yeah, that's who I travel with a lot.  I first got started with them.  My buddy's Daryl Horner and Josh Denny Co Founded the group.  Shout out to Josh and Daryl.

MM: Now on to this "Ghetto Whopper Freak-out", which was HILARIOUS by the way. Who are the other guys involved in that and who's idea was it?

Kevin: We all came up with the idea. Me, KJ and Asa Thibodaux.
GWF
MM: Every time I look up, I'm seeing the "Ghetto Whopper Freak-out" youtube on someone's myspace page. Yall really blew up off that huh?!

Kevin: Yes that really helped us a lot.  I get offers to do shows everywhere, the Star Tribune wrote up something, I get like 20 friend requests a day...lots and lots of emails...it's crazy.

MM: Well congratulations on much success because you're out here doing your thing! Anything coming up for you some time soon? Want to plug any shows?

Kevin: Thanks! Yes, check me, KJ, and Asa out Feb. 16th @ The Corner Bar located on 1501 Washington in Minneapolis. $10 cover per person, $15 per couple and the show starts at 9pm. Check out my page too at www.myspace.com/comediancraft and hit me up. I answer all my emails.  For the ladies...I got pics so if you need a screen saver feel free.

MM: You're so crazy. Well I definitely appreciate you taking the time out to do this with me and I look forward to talking to you soon.

There you have it folks the Minnesota funny man himself Kevin Craft. To see the youtube of "Whopper Freak-out - The Ghetto Version" and also the new Whopper Freak-out music video, go to Kevin's myspace page at www.myspace.com/comediancraft
