For  Caldwell, a Minneapolis native,  the love of art is in his genes.  Father,  Charles Caldwell,  is a mixed-media artist known for his contribution to the Black art community over the past 25 years.  Kenneth has been strongly influenced by his father and has also worked to create a body of work that stands on its own.

 Kenneth's talents were recognized at an early age (first grade)  as he had his first official public showing in Minneapolis while enrolled at North High School.   He has always had the support of family,  friends,  and community in pursuit of his dreams as an artist.  Kenneth Caldwell has learned how important to his craft the continued acknowledgement of exceptional talents among up and coming African-American artists truly is-artists whose works have historically been overshadowed by more established visual artists.  As such,  Mr. Caldwell has created his body of work to show that young talent can transcend race through the multiple expressions of art.

 Caldwell's works belie his young age.  With works reminiscent of Ernie Barnes, and a unique contemporary sensibility, his pieces recreate the energy and spirit of the African-American experience--from the Harlem Renaissance to today's Hip Hop era.  Lessons learned from his travels across country to exhibit his work,  combined with his own personal experiences,  have contributed greatly to the continuous evolution of Kenneth Caldwell and his craft.
