Dear Cycling Friends,

The entire Syracuse Bicycle family would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to our customers. Indeed, we have a lot to be thankful for this year:

Thank you for your business.

After the kick off to our busy sale week last Friday, we are all a little tired but at the same time energized by helping customers find great new bikes! We're closed on Thanksgiving so we can all enjoy the holiday with our families and recharge for the final weekend of the sale. We only do this sale once a year, so if you haven't had a chance to stop in, please do!

Thank you for helping us become a Top 100 Retailer for the second year in row.

Syracuse Bicycle was honored to be chosen as one of the Top 100 Best Bicycle Retailers in the nation for 2011! The top 100 were chosen from more than 5,000 independent bicycle dealers by Bicycle Retailer and Industry News - the industry's leading trade magazine based on market share, community outreach, advocacy efforts, store appearance, and overall professionalism. "The retailers that have been named the Top 100 have distinguished themselves as the best of the best," said Bicycle Retailer and Industry News Editor Megan Tompkins. We couldn't have received this award without the support of our wonderful customers!

Thank you for riding your bike.

It seems like everywhere you turn these days more people in Central New York are choosing to "go by bike," whether it's for fitness, family fun, or just to get themselves to work! We enjoy nothing more than seeing the continuous growth in cycling and triathlon in our region. And whether you are a seasoned cyclist, a veteran Ironman triathlete, or a newcomer to either sport, you are a valued part of this remarkable transformation. We are thankful for the opportunity to be with you every step of the way.

Wishing you and your family a happy and safe Thanksgiving,

The Syracuse Bicycle Family

Lactate Threshold Testing with Doug Bush

VO2 Max Testing

Friday, December 9th

@Syracuse Bicycle

One of the most important parts of any structured training plan is to train at the correct intensity. Using a heart rate monitor or cycling power meter are both excellent methods to monitor intensity during workouts and races.

When using intensity monitoring devices, it is crucial to establish training zones based around your lactate threshold (LT), Sports Science research has shown that using lactate threshold to establish training zones is the most precise way to set up training zones.

Initial Exercise Assessment Test includes:
· VO2 Max. and Anaerobic Threshold data
· Results report. (see pdf on right)
· Heart Rate training zones
Cost: $120

Please email doug@endurancefactor.com to schedule your appointment.

USAT Level II Coach Doug Bush has Bachelors degree in Exercise Science with a concentration in Sports Nutrition from the University of Buffalo. He has been involved in endurance sports for 20 years as a mountain biker, cyclist, runner, and triathlete. Completed eight Ironman triathlons, including Kona, numerous marathons, and countless mountain bike, road bike, and other running races.
