Della Lamb Charter School Makes Great Strides with Language for Writing
Kansas City, MO School Principal, Jennifer Wilson, Explains School's Success
Here's something to celebrate - Della Lamb Charter School has observed amazing progress in their second graders' writing skills! Principal Jennifer Wilson shared the following information with us in a recent email:
"During the 2010-2011 school year, Della Lamb Charter School began implementing the Language for Writing program for all second grade students. All second grade students were placed at Lesson 1 in Language for Writing at the beginning of the school year."
During the 2011-2012 school year, significant growth in its second grade students was observed, as measured by a Quarterly Writing Assessment. The school-level writing assessment is directly aligned to the Missouri Grade Level Expectations and the Common Core State Standards. The school expects to see similar gains reflected on the annual state assessment for students who have completed the Language for Writing program.

JP. PJ. Two very important initials. They might sound confusing, but the truth of the matter is, PJ loves JP, and JP loves PJ!

She loves what she does, and has been working with JP partner schools across the nation for nearly fourteen years.  PJ Toburen, School Improvement Specialist
PJ loves her work as an SIS for the opportunity it gives her to make a positive difference for kids. She especially loves working with Della Lamb, though. "I've been going there so long I've had the opportunity to develop lasting, treasured relationships." She describes working with Della Lamb's princiapl, Jennifer Wilson, and her staff as stellar. "Jenn is one of the brightest, hardest working principals I've ever worked with." PJ appreciates Della Lamb's commitment to JP for the past twelve years and appreciates their desire to continue to learn. Says PJ, "Language for Writing is such a challenging skill. Writing is the highest form of communication. I couldn't be prouder of Della Lamb's success in this area!"
