Dear JA Supporters,
Trent Klingensmith

Every year at this time, I reflect on the many blessings I have to be thankful for. Here at JA, the staff and I are thankful for all of our volunteers, teachers, parents, students, donors, and supporters that make the JA mission possible every day. It is because of you that 31,000 kids in Middle Tennessee will learn important financial and life skills this year. These skills will give them a competitive edge in the future to land a good job, earn a steady paycheck, and provide for themselves and their families--all things for which to be thankful.

On behalf of these kids, thank you for the time and resources you give to this organization to brighten the future of our community.

Sincerely,

Trent Klingensmith
President, JA of Middle Tennessee

JA BizTown students thankful for community sponsorships
Wells Fargo Foundation provides learning to 200 students

JA BizTown has received a lot of great community support this Fall from donors and dedicated volunteers. The Wells Fargo Foundation sponsored 3 days of the JA BizTown program, helping nearly 200 students experience life as an adult in the business world. To show their gratitude, Crockett Elementary students welcomed Wells Fargo representatives into their town to present them with a key to JA BizTown. Read more about this sponsorship here.

Wells Fargo in JA BizTown
Wells Fargo District Manager and JA Board Member Shirlee Stevens, Wells Fargo Branch Manager Joshua Rosales, and Wells Fargo District Manager Milton Price accept the key to JA BizTown from students from Crockett Elementary.

Cockrill Elementary students also welcomed volunteers from Baker Storey McDonald Properties, who spent their workday in JA BizTown helping students learn about the world of work. By leading group meetings and guiding citizens through their job tasks, these volunteers helped students make connections between what they experienced in JA BizTown and the situations they will face as working adults.

Thanks so much to all our supporters!

AT&T Job Shadow a huge success

ATT Job Shadow
Students explore technology at
AT&T
Job Shadow Day.

Two Nashville high schools' students partnered with AT&T employees, joining thousands of their peers across the country, to participate in the AT&T / JA Worldwide Job Shadow Initiative, a five-year effort to increase high school retention and workforce readiness. In its third year, the initiative has reached more than 50,000 students, over half of the program's total goal to impact the lives of 100,000 students across the U.S.

On October 28th, 47 freshmen from Nashville Big Picture High School shadowed employees at the AT&T "Batman Building" in Downtown Nashville. On October 29th, 40 seniors from Stratford High School visited two AT&T locations in Brentwood.

Through JA Job Shadow, students not only get an authentic workplace experience, but they also receive classroom pre-sessions that highlight critical skills needed in the workplace and a free online career assessment.

Thank you to AT&T and both schools who worked to make Job Shadow a huge success!
