JA BizTown offers Summer Camp for kids ages 10-13!

One of the great things about Junior Achievement is that our programs provide so many new opportunities to students... opportunities to learn valuable skills, explore the world of business, and see how their continued education will have a huge impact on their future success.

This summer, JA is giving Middle Tennessee youth one more great opportunity, JA BizTown Summer Camp!  This week-long camp allows kids to have a blast while incorporating "real-world" skills.

Campers will learn about basic economics, money and banking, writing checks, marketing, and what it takes to operate a business.  With jobs ranging from radio DJ to sales manager, mayor to CEO, campers can explore careers, design business plans, work in teams and build partnerships to create a thriving JA BizTown economy.

Your child could be one of the first students to experience this week-long BizTown adventure!

So mark your calendars:

New Job Shadowing Partnership
JA & MNPS to collaborate

94 FM Pic
Students spend the day at 94FM The Fish
as part of a JA Music Row Job Shadow Day.

New things are happening with our Job Shadow Program. While students from Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools have participated for several years, JA is partnering with MNPS to make this a more powerful program for students.

Currently, several MNPS high schools are in the process of establishing career academies. The purpose of these academies is to prepare Nashville students for college and career; to provide relevant, rigorous, and engaging coursework; and to help students explore various careers, learn critical 21st century skills and graduate from high school better prepared for college, career and life.

Junior Achievement of Middle Tennessee and MNPS are partnering together for Job Shadow this school year. Antioch High School and Glencliff High School have been identified to pilot the program for the first year. MNPS's involvement will mean job shadowing is now incorporated into their curriculum, and teachers will work in depth with students to prepare them for the day. Participating career academies include Health, Business, STEM, Hospitality, and Human Services.

This year we were able to accommodate all school requests for student participation. JA would like to thank the following companies for their partnership in this initiative: AT&T, Bridgestone Americas, Caterpillar Financial Services, Deloitte, Federal Reserve Bank, Ford Motor Company, Loew's Vanderbilt Hotel, Gaylord Opryland Hotel, Nashville Airport Marriott, Pepsi Bottling Group, Qualifacts Systems, Renaissance Nashville Hotel, Southern Hills Medical Center, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and Wright Travel.
