Job Shadow a Success!

BizTown Buzz

Inside the President's Corner
         with Trent Klingensmith

We recently got word that one of Junior Achievement of Middle Tennessee's early supporters passed away. William G. Cole was a man of vision who was inspired to bring valuable JA educational experiences to students in the Nashville area. We are grateful for his foresight and support which has enabled us to bring JA education to more than a quarter of a million students in the last fifty years.

The Tennessean had this to say: "As a founder of Junior Achievement in Nashville, Bill was especially proud of the positive influence that organization had and continues to have on young lives throughout the community."

You can read more about Mr. Cole by clicking here: William G. Cole, Jr.

Thank you to all of you who, like William Cole, have found inspiration in inspiring our student community. Your support is invaluable to us and we could not reach 45,000 children without you!

Sincerely,

Trent Klingensmith

Thank You!

Bridgestone Firestone Trust Fund has been a Title Sponsor of the Bowl-a-Thon for eight years! Their $15,000 support of this event helps to make it a success.

Junior Achievement of Middle Tennessee seeks to inspire and prepare children to dream about their future, develop relevant skills, and pursue attainable goals.

Dear JA Partner,

As the spring season brings sunshine, fresh starts, and new beginnings to the community, it also brings a series of exciting events to our office. The U.S. Business Hall of Fame is less than a month away and will be quickly followed by the Bowl-a-Thon and Golf Classic.

Most importantly, we will be finding more volunteers to take valuable JA programs into area schools. We hope that you will take part in making this spring a successful one for JA and Middle Tennessee students!

JA Job Shadow Day is a Success!

Growing up, many children want to be a CEO, Senator, banker, secretary, fire fighter or maybe even the President of the United States of America. Some may even pretend to dress up and play make-believe and act out some of these important roles. In actuality, children don't realize how hard or easy a job may actually be. Junior Achievement of Middle Tennessee gave 620 students the opportunity to walk side by side with an employer of their choice. Seventy-six organizations within Middle Tennessee came together to provide youth with a phenomenal experience on career opportunities. Job Shadow opened doors in the community as well as the eyes of young inspiring youth.

Job Shadow isn't just a day out of school, but a day of decision making for the rest of your life.

A Donelson Middle school teacher whose students participated had great things to say about job shadow:

"Thanks so much for having us. The kids can't stop talking about hiring people, making pizza, and all the walking they did around the hotel. You all were so kind to have us! I'm glad everyone there stressed staying in school and working hard. Those are great messages for the kids."

Each day in JA BizTown, students produce a newspaper they sell to their fellow JA BizTown citizens. Each edition includes news articles, feature stories, editorials, and of course - advertisements. These are just a few examples of the great writing from recent JA BizTown Newspaper staff members.

To my research...almost everybody likes their employees. We have people making friends because of JA BizTown. it seems to me it is so easy to make friends in a business. So let's make it a better place here at JA BizTown!

I think that we sould start a recycling program at JA BizTown. We could help the environment from dying by using our products over again. If we could get everyone to start recycling, we could live better and feel happier about helping the environment grow instead of die...I think that it would be a good habit to do and you could meet people who feel the same way about recycling.
