JA wishes all of our
volunteers a Happy Valentine's Day
It's that time of year when we express to the ones we value
the most just how much they mean to us.
Flowers, candy, dinner and sweet whispers of "I love you" fill the air
on Valentines Day.
Young and old alike are planning and expecting to show and
receive affection. We at Junior
Achievement of Middle TN are no different.
We are in the business of playing matchmaker between
our fabulous volunteers and our deserving students.
As a volunteer, your commitment and eagerness to give of
yourselves demonstrates that you desire to make the lives of others around you
better. You have been calling and
e-mailing us and responding to our pleas for the past several months. Now as we head into the home stretch, we ask
you to enjoy this day, remember someone close to you and treat yourself. Eat a few chocolates and savor the
moment. Remember that you have chosen to
give of your most valuable resource, your time and for that we and the thousands
of students we reach are grateful!
Happy Valentine's Day from the Junior Achievement Staff! | |
JA BizTown Buzz
Each day in JA BizTown, students produce a
newspaper they sell to their fellow JA BizTown citizens. Each edition includes
news articles, feature stories, editorials, and of course - advertisements.
These are just a few examples of the great writing from recent JA BizTown
Newspaper staff members.

People Raise the Prices. Why?by Justin Bierly
5th grader Fairview Elementary School
People have been raising their prices. Why? Is it because they need more money? I just went to all of the businesses and mostly everyone raised their prices so they could pay off their bills. But some others didn't raise prices for bills and I don't even know why. But I will find out eventually.

Fairview Elementary School 5th to BizTown
By Amanda Selsor
5th grader Fairview Elementary School
Extra! Extra! Read all about it! The 5th grade of FES went to BizTown on Jan. 24 & 25! The NovaCopy, "Hot Copies," was the print shop. They also had products like flowers, dog tags, and buttons. The General Store sold all sorts of things- like Egyptian necklaces, binders, and now even rulers! And the Delivery Center- their name says it all! But what BizTown is really is about is that students learn about the world of work...and they get to spend money! |

Mixing up JA BizTown! JA Welcomes Mix 92.9 as a sponsor of JA BizTown's Radio/Broadcast business!
Mix
92.9 is proud to partner with Junior Achievement. We consistently strive
to make a difference in our community and make education one of our primary
concerns. Book Buddies, perhaps our largest community outreach program,
takes fun books and activities to school children all over Middle Tennessee. Our
mascot, Mick the Moose and trained staff members take a different book and
educational activity each week into what has now been hundreds of
classrooms. And we're just getting started!
Mix
92.9's partnership with Junior Achievement means that our knowledge, resources,
and opportunities are now available to even more students across the
mid-state. Young people who participate in the JA Biztown experience are
now able to sit inside a realistic Mix 92.9 studio. Students who may be
interested in radio are now able to identify a station with their radio
experience at JA Biztown. We're excited to make the DJ experience even
more realistic for JA kids! We often conduct studio tours for students at
our station, and seek to provide a realistic and educational experience with
our field for interested students of all ages.
Mix
92.9 joining with Junior Achievement is just one of the many ways we seek to
provide continuing educational opportunities for our future. We are
thrilled to see what this year brings, both in the lives and experiences of the
children we're able to impact and in our own lives and careers as we take
advantage of another chance to impact the future generations. We are
honored to join the efforts of Junior Achievement to educate and inspire young
people to succeed.
