Dear fellow Achievers, Junior
Achievement's 50th Anniversary in Middle Tennessee has been a time
of great accomplishment for our organization. Thanks to a great team effort,
more than 45,000 students experienced JA programming during the 2006/2007
school year, a true testament to the support of the sponsors and schools that
are a part of JA. Additionally, we are excited about building upon this number
this year when once again, we will rely on not only volunteers and teachers,
but also generous financial support from Middle Tennessee organizations and
individuals.
The 50th Anniversary celebration will culminate on April 8th and 9th, 2008, when the
U.S. Business Hall of Fame comes to Nashville.
We are one of only three cities to have the honor of hosting this event twice,
the last Nashville
event occurring in 1993. This is a prestigious event when the who's who of
business will descend upon Nashville
to celebrate the induction of the 2008 U.S. Business Hall of Fame Laureates.

JA Names 2007 Volunteer and Teacher of the Year
|
Imagine that you are at a graduation ceremony.
The graduates are a bit shorter than you would expect and instead of graduation robes and mortar boards there are goody bags
and donuts. The smiling faces,
graduation certificates and firm handshakes are a testament to the fulfillment
and excitement that comes with completing a project successfully. You are witnessing the final class session in
a fourth grade JA class taught by Nancy Goins, Junior Achievement Volunteer of
the Year.
Nancy Goins of Caterpillar Financial Services began
her JA career only four years ago, but in that time she has directly impacted
more than 360 students. When asked about
her involvement with JA, Nancy
said, "JA programs are important to businesses because this is an opportunity
for us, as business people, to provide positive encouragement and experiences
to students."
On Saturday, August 11th, JA honored Nancy and the 2007 Teach of the Year, Celia Jolly of Stratford High School, while thanking our 922
classroom volunteers and 1,632 teachers at the Nashville Sounds game sponsored
by Allstate Insurance. Nancy and Celia each received an award as well
as 2 roundtrip airline tickets provided by Wright
Travel.
Since 2004, Ms. Jolly has offered JA programs to
her students more than 15 times. One of
her volunteers says, "In my six year
experience with JA, I have worked with many teachers, but Ms. Jolly really
stands out for many reasons - she not only demands respect, but is respectful. Above all, Ms. Jolly cares about her students and this is not lost on those
young people."
As the school year starts, JA will continue to seek
volunteers and teachers committed to our mission of inspiring and preparing
children to dream about their future, develop relevant skills, and pursue
attainable goals. To join us, e-mail education@janash.com or go to www.janash.com.

INTRODUCING JA BIZTOWN™ |
With Junior Achievement, you're never to young to experience your first year in business, so when JA BizTown™ opens this fall, hundreds of Middle
Tennessee students in grades four through six will have the opportunity to run
banks, manage restaurants, read utility meters, write checks, and even vote.
JA
BizTown is JA Worldwide's new
capstone elementary school program, which combines in-class learning with a
day-long visit to a JA World™ facility where JA BizTown is housed. It is a fully interactive, true-to-life, simulated town where students
learn the fundamental relationship between academics and life beyond
school.
For more information about JA BizTown, visit our website. |

|
Thank
you for your support of JA. I wish you nothing but the best in the year to
come.
Sincerely, Trent Klingensmith President Junior Achievement of Middle Tennessee
