New Signs Approved by Council
In recent discussions about parking, residents suggested the City direct visitors safely and quickly to the municipal parking lots near Front Beach. To help reach that goal, City Council authorized the purchase and placement of 15 "wayfinding" signs. Visitors will be directed towards parking in the commercial district and learn that two routes can be taken, which could ease the "stacking" of vehicles. Look for the new signs to be in place by the 2013 beach season! |
City Will Apply for Greenbelt Funding to acquire the Undeveloped Lot at
18th Avenue and Palm Boulevard
Charleston County's "Greenbelt" program has allocated $474,305 to the City of Isle of Palms for approved projects that meet the program's conservation-based criteria. At its July meeting, City Council passed a resolution to apply for this funding to aquire the undeveloped lot adjacent to 18th Avenue and Palm Boulevard. If the application is successful, the lot will remain undeveloped or become a passive park permanently. Letters of support for the application can be emailed to ltucker@iop.net |
