City Parking under Discussion - Budget Allows for Improvements
Since July 2009, the Planning Commission has held formal discussions related to improving island parking.  City Council and the Planning Commission held two joint meetings in the past year to be responsive to citizen parking concerns.  In the most recent joint meeting, City Council directed staff to include figures in the fiscal year 2012 budget that would allow implementation of parking improvements, which might include constructing mini-parking-lots on four beach accesses on Ocean Boulevard and restricting parking on streets from Breach Inlet to 10th Avenue to residential permit parking only.  City Council intends to hold a Public Hearing to recieve comments on the parking initiative.  Watch the City Calendar for the Hearing date.
