Lights Out for Turtles |

Turtle nesting season is here! To protect turtles and hatchlings from getting disoriented, City of Isle of Palms Ordinance 5-4-17 requires that lights be shielded from the beach or turned off from May 1-October 31. If you see a turtle on the island, give it plenty of space and contact the turtle team. |

City Council will take public comments on the draft budget for fiscal year 12, which contains a balanced general fund budget and contemplates no tax increase. The draft budget is available for review at City Hall from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Beginning July 1, the Charleston County landfill will no longer accept yard debris contained in plastic bags. Plastic bags interfere with the composting process that is a focus of the County's efforts to improve the environment. The Isle of Palms City Council has passed an ordinance stipulating that residents must used biodegradable paper bags, like those pictured, or containers that can be dumped for yard debris.
