Project Updates

Energy-Efficient Lighting at Front Beach
The City received a grant to partially fund upgrades of some of the Front Beach lighting to make it more energy-efficient and durable.  Bids for the work were accepted this week, and the City hopes to award a contract in November.  Work is anticipated to occur over the winter and should cause minimal interruption.

Beach Restoration
The 2008 Beach Restoration Project continues to be a success.  To maintain the project, the City applied for a permit to correct a few "erosion hotspots."  It will take several months to obtain a permit, issue a Request for Bids and award a contract.  Check the Beach Restoration section of the City's website for project history and the latest updates.

52nd - 57th Avenue Drainage
After several years of accumulating funding through applications to County programs and City budgeting, the City is moving forward with drainage improvements to address re-occuring flooding from 52nd - 57th Avenue.  The permit application for this work was submitted in October, and the City is hopeful that work will be completed in advance of the next beach season.
