According to the FBI, consumers reported a loss of approximately $559.7 million dollars due to internet fraud.  Be careful when providing personal information over the internet and telephone.  On computers, keep the firewall on, install and update anti-viral software, keep the operating system up-to-date, be careful about downloading files and turn off computers not in use.  Report any suspicious activity immediately to the IOPPD at 843-886-6522.

Want to check your home or business for vulnerabilities? Want to discourage criminals by increasing their chances of getting seen and caught? Contact the Isle of Palms Police Department at 843-886-6522 to arrange for an officer to assist you with a Business Security Survey or a Residential Security Survey. 
 
Officers will use a program called "CPTED," Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design, to evaluate the doors, fences, lighting, windows, landscaping, signs, sidewalks, ordinances, code enforcement and clean-ups.
