City Offices Closed September 6 - Trash Collection Changes

City Administrative offices, including City Hall, Public Works, the Building Department, the Recreation Center and Police and Fire administration, will be closed on Monday, September 6 in observance of the holiday.  No trash collection will occur.  Please check the holiday week trash collection schedule
 
 Boards and Commissions Due August 31
Consider lending your expertise to the City by applying for a position on a board or commission by August 31, 2010.  Available seats for 2011 include:
 Accommodations Tax Advisory Committee - 4 vacancies of 3-year terms; Board of Zoning Appeals - 2 vacancies of 3-year terms; Code Board of Appeals - 2 vacancies of 4-year terms; Planning Commission - 4 vacancies of 2-year terms
Community Wellness Fair September 16

The 3rd Annual Community Wellness Fair will be from 7:00 a.m. to noon on Thursday, September 16 at the Recreation Center.  Plenty of free services and health demonstrations will be available on topics such as blood pressure, mobility, strength, living wills, power of attorneys, sleeping problems, stroke information, knee health, eye health, superfoods and much more.  Additionally, the Recreation Department and East Cooper Medical Center have teamed up to offer fasting blood work to local residents including a Comprehensive Metabolic Panel and a Lipid Profile for only $25.  Make an appointment by calling 843-884-7031 for bloodwork.  Everyone is invited to the fair!
 
Once-per-Week Trash Collection Begins Monday, September 13
Trash collection changes from twice-per-week to once-per-week beginning Monday, September 13.  Please check the collection schedule to verify collection days.
Exchange Club Honors City with "Proudly We Hail" Award

The Isle of Palms Exchange Club has honored the City with its first ever "Proudly We Hail" award which recognizes the City for proudly flying the American Flag.
