 Individual Fireworks and Beach Litter Prohibited

Celebrate Independence Day safely and remember that individual fireworks and litter are prohibited on the Isle of Palms. Enjoy the City's fireworks show and place your litter in yellow barrels to keep the beaches clean for everyone.
City Council Passes Budget
After nearly six months of work, City Council passed a no-tax-increase budget for Fiscal Year 2011.  Click here to review the budget.  Thank you to all who gave valuable input. 
 
City Offices Closed on July 5: No Garbage Collection 
All City administrative offices will be closed for the holiday on Monday, July 5.  No garbage collection will occur.  Check the holiday garbage schedule for the holiday week.

Happy Birthday to the United States of America! Come to the Isle of Palms Front Beach for a spectacular fireworks display at sundown on Sunday, July 4.  Large crowds are expected, so please arrive early and be patient as everyone leaves the island.  Alcohol is prohibited on the beach.  Click here to view pictures of last year's event. 
Gulf Oil Spill Concerns 
The tragic oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is of great concern to everyone.  While the Isle of Palms beach does not face imminent danger, the City is closely monitoring the spill and communicating with the Coast Guard and other agencies to plan for the possibility.  The following resources provide useful information:

Isle of Palms Beach Run/Walk July 17 at 8 a.m. 
Register now for the annual, 4-mile Isle of Palms Beach Run and Walk on Saturday, July 17.  The race begins at 8 a.m. and youth fun runs begin at 9 a.m.on the beach behind the Windjammer.  Register at the IOP Recreation Department or onlineClick here to see photos of last year's race.  Click here for 2009 race results.
