City administrative offices will be closed on Monday, May 31 for the holiday and no garbage collection will occur. Please click here to view to the collection schedule for the holiday week. On Monday, June 7, garbage collection will change from once per week to twice per week for the summer season. Click here to view the twice-per-week schedule. Safety Tip:
Crawl Low

Smoke from a fire can take your breath away. The Isle of Palms Fire Department reminds you to teach children and family members to stay low and close to the floor where the air is easier to breathe. Crawl on your hands and knees and crawl down stairs backwards. Once you are out of the house, do not go back for anything!

Disaster Expo on Friday, June 18 from 5-7PM at Public Safety Building

Make plans to attend the annual Disaster Preparedness Expo hosted by the City of Isle of Palms and the Town of Sullivan's Island on Friday, June 18 from 5-7PM at the Isle of Palms Public Safety Building at 30 J.C. Long Boulevard. This fun, family event will feature free pizza, face painting and jump castles! Most importantly, island residents, visitors and business will learn how to prepare for a disaster and how to recover from one. Be prepared and be safe!

Council Works on the Budget

City Council has spent several months reviewing and refining the proposed municipal budget for fiscal year 2011. The current draft of the budget is balanced and includes no tax increase. The proposed millage is 22.2, which is the same as the current millage. A public hearing is scheduled for 6:30PM on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 in City Hall, 1207 Palm Boulevard, to allow citizens to make comments on the budget. A copy of the draft budget is available for public inspection at City Hall between 8:00AM and 5:00PM, Monday through Friday.

City Sponsors Spoleto Performance of "Proserpina"

The City of Isle of Palms is proud to sponsor the American premiere of "Proserpina" by Wolfgang Rihm as part of the Spoleto Festival. Performances are at 8:00PM on Sunday, May 30; 7:00PM on Friday, June 4; and 8:00PM on Wednesday, June 9 at the Memminger Auditorium. Click here for tickets.
