Holiday Schedules:
Garbage Collection Changes and City Offices Closed 
City administrative offices will be closed for the following holidays:
 
Thursday, November 26
 Friday, November 27
Thursday, December 24
Friday, December 25
Friday, January 1
Monday, January 18 

No trash, yard debris or bulk trash collection will occur on these holidays.  Please check the trash schedule to determine your collection day.  The Police and Fire Departments will remain open and available for assistance during the holidays. Call 911 for emergencies and 843-886-6522 for non-emergencies.
 
Ben Sawyer Bridge Closure 
Ben Sawyer Bridge
Construction on the Ben Sawyer Bridge rehabilitation project is on schedule.  Drivers and mariners should be aware that the bridge and the Intracoastal Waterway will close for a period of up to 10 days in November, December or January.  Exact dates have not been announce.  Visit the project website maintained by SCDOT for the latest updates.
 
American FlagElection Results Certified 
The Charleston County Board of Elections and Voter Registration has certified the results of the regular election held on November 3.  Dick Cronin was elected Mayor for the 2010-2013 term.  Barbara Bergwerf, Marty Bettelli, Sandy Stone and Doug Thomas were elected to City Council for the 2010-2013 term.  John Ferrell and Jay Leigh were elected to the Isle of Palms Water and Sewer Commission for the 2010-2015 term.  The Mayor and City Council will be inaugurated at the Special Council Meeting at 6PM on Tuesday, January 5.  The City is grateful to current Council Members Carol Rice and Dee Taylor whose terms of service will end in 2009 and who did not run for re-election.  Councilmember Taylor served the City for 16 years and Councilmember Rice served for 8 years.

When you encounter a livability problem on the island, such as noise, please do not hesitate to call the Police DepartmentThe livability hotline is 843-886-8282.  The City has a dedicated Livability Sergeant who works to enforce the ordinances enacted by City Council to govern livability issues on the island, such as noise, roll-out carts, maximum occupancy and maximum parking.  Residents and visitors to the Isle of Palms alike desire the best possible experience.  Letting the Police Department know a problem exists is essential to help correct and prevent future problems.
 
Holiday Tree at Front BeachHoliday Tree Lighting 6PM on December 3 
Celebrate the season at the annual holiday tree lighting event on the Front Beach at 6PM on Thursday, December 3. Santa will help the City light its spectacular 22-foot tree.  The forecast calls for snow.  Live entertainment and specials from local businesses will be available.  Click here to view a photo gallery of last year's event.
