Palm TreesMarker Honors Plant-A-Palm Committee

On the 20th Anniversary of Hurricane Hugo, September 21, 2009, at 9:00AM the City will honor the efforts of the Plant-a-Palm Committee, a group of volunteers who came together after the storm to raise money to line Palm Boulevard with the beautiful avenue of Palm trees that are still there today.  The City will unveil a commemorative marker near the curve at 21st Avenue and Palm Boulevard as a permanent acknowledgement of this place in history.  The City and its citizens and visitors are forever grateful to the Plant-a-Palm Committee.
